Orthodontic Dental Services

Straighter teeth give you more than a great smile—they also help to reduce your risk for tooth decay and gum disease. If left untreated by a dentist, tooth decay and gum disease can cause mouth sores, tender or bleeding gums, bad breath and possible tooth loss. Orthodontic treatment can assist with straight teeth, helping you to avoid problems such as an improper bite, difficulty speaking or chewing, and jaw problems.

Invasalign – the clear choice
If you need orthodontic treatment, chances are Invisalign can help. Invisalign can treat a wide range of cases. The teeth-straightening process will vary from person to person, but the basic idea stays the same. Dr. Jarwa will take x-rays, pictures and impressions of your teeth, and then use that information to create a treatment plan. You’ll receive a series of custom aligners that you’ll change about every two weeks. Over time, your teeth will gently and gradually shift into place. For more detailed information you can visit Invsialign’s website at www.invisalign.com/orthodontic-treatment.

Adult post orthodontic treatment retainers
Includes removing, applying and/or fabricating retainers. Once your braces are removed, the best way to keep your teeth straight and your smile beautiful is through retainers. Usually your Orthodontist will advise you to have either fixed, removable, or a combination of both fixed and removable retainers to maintain your smile. The best way to ensure great results is to wear them exactly as instructed. Otherwise, some of the great progress made by your braces will be lost. Problems with retainers can occur such as wire breakage or bonding breakage with teeth. Removable retainers are easy to lose, and they aren’t cheap to replace. Should you lose or break your retainer, contact us immediately and we’ll get you one made. Often, patients like to have a clear removable retainer instead of the fixed wire retainer that is bothersome with keeping oral hygiene habits.

Pediatric pre orthodontic retainer treatment (space maintainer)
Space maintainers are usually fitted in children when they have lost baby teeth early. The gap left from losing this tooth needs to be held open for the permanent tooth to erupt in the correct position. A baby tooth is sometimes lost prematurely because of tooth decay or injury. If this occurs before the permanent tooth is ready to erupt the nearby teeth can shift or drift into the space where the primary tooth use to be, creating a lack of space in the jaw for the permanent teeth. The teeth in the other jaw may also move up or down to fill in the gap. If this crowding happens there may not be enough room for the new tooth to come in correctly, so it emerges lopsided or is not able to erupt at all.

Dr. Jarwa will evaluate your child and based on their needs will provide the indicated type of space maintainer.

-Band and Loop Space Maintainer
-Lingual Arch Space Maintainer
-Nance Appliance
-Transpalatal Arch Appliance
